In Fig.15.72(a), OABC is a square of side 7cm. If OAPC is a quadrant of a circle with centre O, then find the area of the shaded region.

Given,


Side of square = 7cm


Area of square = (side)2 = 72 = 49cm2


Area of quadrant OAPC =



Area of shaded region = (area of square – area of quadrant)


= 49 – 38.5 = 10.5 cm2
