State the meaning of functional group in a carbon compound. Write the functional group present in

(i) ethanol and


(ii) ethanoic acid arid also draw their structures.

Functional group is defined as an atom or a group of atoms which makes carbon compounds reactive and also the decides the various properties of the compounds.
