Define, refractive index of a transparent medium. What is its unit? Which has a higher refraction index-glass or water?

The Refractive index of the medium is defined as the ratio of speed of light in vacuum to the speed of light in a medium. The refractive index of medium is given as follows:



The refractive index don’t have any unit because it is the ratio of two similar quantities. The refractive index of glass is more than the refractive index of water.
