(i) Each body cell of human beings except reproductive cells (ovum and sperm) have 23 pairs or 46 chromosomes.

(ii) Lion and tiger have 19 pairs of chromosomes.


(iii) Autosomes are the chromosomes other than the sex chromosomes and are similar in both males and females. In humans, 22 pairs chromosomes are autosomes.


Note: the pair of sex chromosome determines the sex of the individual where “XX” is female and “XY” is male.
