(i) Monohybrid: A cross between two parents different in a single pair of contrasting characters is known as monohybrid cross and the resulting hybrid are called monohybrids. Example- A cross between pure tall (TT) and a dwarf (tt) pea plants.

(ii) Dihybrid: A cross between two parents different in two alternative traits of two different characters is known as dihybrid cross and the resulting hybrids are known as dihybrids. For example- A cross between tall and purple bearing pea plant with dwarf and white bearing pea plant. Hybrids


(iii) Filial generation: Filial generation means the cross between the offsprings of the parental generation. In other words, It refers to F1 generation, produced by crossing two true-breeding parental forms.
