What is the source of oxygen released in photosynthesis – CO2 or H2O ? ……………………………….

Water is the source of oxygen released in photosynthesis.

During the light-dependent phase of photosynthesis, photolysis of water occurs which release oxygen. This oxygen gas is released into the atmosphere.


Note: Photolysis is the splitting of a water molecule into hydrogen ions and oxygen in presence of sunlight.
