Explain the role of democratic governments in reducing economic disparities.

Democracies don’t appear to reduce economic disparities considerably:

1. Even though dictatorships have a slightly higher economic growth rate than democracies from 1950-2000, the difference of the rates is very low.


2. Economic development varies from country to country because of several factors like population, economic priorities, relations with other countries etc.


3. Even though democratic form of government doesn’t ensure complete economic development, it doesn’t stay very far from other forms of government.


Explanation: Democracy focuses a lot on equality towards people and the uplifting of the marginalised so it may lag a bit behind in economic development but nevertheless, it is not far behind.
