Petroleum as an energy resource and raw material:

1. As an energy resource, it used as a fuel for heating and lighting.


2. In the manufacturing industries, it also acts as a lubricant for machinery.


3. Petroleum refineries are ‘nodal industries’ for synthetic textile, fertilizer and numerous chemical industries.


Explanation: Petroleum is an essential raw material for a number of industries. But it’s an important energy resource too.
