State in brief the two ways in which non-biodegradable substances would affect the environment. List two methods of safe disposal of the non-biodegradable waste.

The two ways in which non-biodegradable substances would affect the environment are as follows:


1. Use of pesticides and insecticides enters the food chain and also affects the fertility of the soil. It results in increase in soil and water pollution.


2. Use of non-biodegradable substances such as polythene results in blocking of drainage system and also harms animals when they are eaten by animals.


The two methods of safe disposal of the non-biodegradable wastes are as follows:


1. Wastes should be buried in land-fills.


2. Molten plastic waste can be used to make roads with Asphalt.
