Explain the displacement of hydrogen by a metal from an acid with an example. Give the equation to support the same.

Metals usually displace hydrogen from acids. For example sodium metal reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid to form sodium chloride and hydrogen.
2Na(s) + 2HCl (aq) 2NaCl (aq) + H2 (g).
