Handling of exports and imports on a large scale is done conveniently from the Kandla port. Why?

Kandla Port is a tidal port and therefore there is less restriction on movement of ships enabling convenient handling of exports and imports.

NOTE – Kandla, located in Kuchchh, was the first tidal port developed soon after independence in order to ease the volume of trade on the Mumbai port, in the wake of the loss of Karachi port to Pakistan after partition.
