Why did Anne like her father more than she liked her mother?

According to Anne, her father ‘Pim’ was the best father in the world. Otto Frank was a gentle, caring, intelligence and emotionally sensitive man. He was very protective of Anne but held himself back in order to see his daughter grow. The father and daughter were close, and he was more of a friend than a parent for her. He was careful of her needs and interests and tried his best to fulfill them, such as when he got her entire collections of movie posters. He was very concerned about her and Margret’s education and upbringing. He made sure they devoted time to study and to extra curriculars both. Anne engaged in a lot of activities with her father and was very comfortable around him.

Anne’s relationship with her mother, on the other hand, was of a complex and complicated nature resulting from the differences in temperaments of the two. There was a gap in understanding between the two, which eventually turned the relationship caustic.
