If one root of the quadratic equation kx2 – 8x + 15 = 0 is 3, then find the value of k.

Put x = 3 in kx2 – 8x + 15 = 0, we get

⇒ k(3)2 – 8 × 3 + 15 = 0


⇒ 9k = 9


⇒ k = 1
