Attempt any two of the following sub questions:

The following table shows ages of 300 patients getting medical treatment in a hospital on a particular day:



Find the median age of the patients.

First find the cumulative frequency of the observations and n = 300.



A median class with cumulative frequency greater than or equal to 150 is 30 – 40.


On using formula,


where L means lower boundary of the median class,


n means sum of frequencies,


CF means cumulative frequency before the median class,


F means frequency of the median class,


h means the size of the median class.


Here, L = 30, CF = 102, F = 55, h = 40 - 30 = 10
