tan 72° + cot 30°

First we consider tan 72°,


The relevant part of the tangent table is given below.



From the table, we have


tan 72° = 3.0777


Then consider cot 30°,


The relevant part of the cotangent table is given below.



From the table, we have


cot 30° = 1.73205


∴ tan 72° + cot 30° = 3.0777 + 1.73205 = 4.80975 ≈ 4.8098
