Q2 of 128 Page 18

Find g. c. d. and l.c.m.. using the fundamental theorem of arithmetic:

250 and 336

250 = 2 × 125

= 2 × 5 × 25

= 2 × 5 × 5 × 5 = 2 × 55

336 = 2 × 168

= 2 × 2 × 84

= 2 × 2 × 2 × 42

= 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 21

= 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 7

= 24 × 3 × 7

Therefore, g. c. d(250, 336) = 2

l.c.m.(250, 336) = 24 × 3 × 7 × 53

= 16 × 21 × 125

= 336 × 125 = 42000
