Describe the main event of the October revolution?

The main events of the October revolution in Russia were:

• Lenin convinced the Soviet of the Petrograd, the capital of the Russian revolution and Bolshevik party to carry on with the socialist seizure of power on October 16, 1917. To carry on with the capture, Military Revolutionary Committee was formed under Leon Trotskii. The date of the seizure was kept as a secret.


• On 24th October, when the uprising began the prime minister left the city to instruct the troops. The troops captured the buildings of two Bolshevik newspapers and they also sent to capture telephone and telegraph offices. Military Revolutionary Committee quickly made the city under their control and ministers surrendered themselves.


• Finally, the majority of the members of all Russian Congress of Soviets in Petrograd accepted Bolshevik’s demand.


• At the same time, Moscow witnessed heavy fighting but by December Moscow Petrograd was controlled by the Bolsheviks.
