How did the French Revolution pave the way for democracy in Europe? Discuss any three points.

The three points which prove that the French Revolution paved the way for democracy in Europe were as follows:

• The ideas of freedom and equality began to gain importance. This led to the change in the structure of the society and how it was controlled by the aristocrats and Church.

• The society was divided into 3 estates (Clergy, Nobility and Commoners), church and the rich people of the society who controlled the social and the economic power and had been provided with many privileges but after the revolution, things began to change.

• The idea of individual rights gained importance not just in Europe but in the world too. People started discussing who controlled the social and the economic power. For example – in India, Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Derozio popularized the ideas and the significance of the French Revolution. Even the colonies started discussing this.
