Explain any four functions of the Gram Sabha?

Gram Sabha is an institution in the village to look after the village development and to establish a proper administrative system. The four functions of the Gram Sabha are:

• They are the only authoritative group in the village that takes care of the entire village in terms of religion, administration, education, agriculture, health and water facilities.


• They represent the village as a whole in front of gram panchayat and gram panchayat represent the villages at Taluka and Zilla level.


• They hold public meetings to take a decision with the help of the public and hold private meetings to take decision along with other members of the Gram Sabha to bring changes or to implement any rules on regulations in the village.


• They keep the record of the various meetings and document the details related to money.
