Why is oxygen called gas? Give two reasons.

Oxygen is a non-metal which is very reactive. It readily forms oxides by reacting with elements.


• Oxygen remains in gaseous state at normal temperature and pressure.


• The particles of oxygen move randomly in all directions due to less inter particular force and high kinetic energy.


• They do not have a fixed shape or volume.


• They have low densities and can be compressed easily. Hence oxygen is called gas.
