Why is butter wrapped in wet cloth during summer if no refrigerator is available?

Butter is wrapped in wet cloth during summer if a refrigerator is not available. Because the water from the wet cloth gets evaporated due to the heat of summer. During evaporation, the latent heat required for the water is absorbed from the surface of the wet cloth and the butter. The butter will remain cool and will not melt.
