What was the challenge before the members at the constituent assembly?

After the failure of Cripps Mission, a Cabinet Mission was sent to India that proposed the idea of Constituent Assembly. The Mission proposed that there shall be Union of India. The Cabinet rejected the Communal Representation demand by the Muslim League. The cabinet proposed that all the members of the assembly would be Indians.

The challenges ahead of the members were:

1. They had a huge task of framing a constitution for the newly formed democratic nation which was under British rule for 2000 years.

2. While framing the constitution they had to consider factors like the country’s diversity, the socio-economic condition, etc.

3. The partition of India and Pakistan and the princely states were in dilemma of their future. They had this huge challenge of integration of Princely States and to make a constitution that prevents communal violence.

4. The Geographical factors i.e. the vastness of the country and its diversity.
