Why are fundamental rights important?

Fundamental Rights are the various rights given to the people as the citizen of the country and to ensure that every individual is treated equally irrespective of caste, creed, color or race. Right to Equality, Right to Freedom, Right against Exploitation, and Right to Freedom of Religion are some of the Fundamental Rights. Fundamental Rights are important because –

• These rights protect Individual against the personal motive and absolute exercise of power by the State.

• It ensures the rights of minorities against the majority.

• To ensure that no one is discriminated on the basis of religion, colour, and sex.

• They could also move to the court and file a complaint if they have treated unequally or discriminated on any basis.

• It will guard the individual against the State and against other individuals.
