Why are worn out tyres discarded?

In a worn out tyre, there is reduction in friction between road and tyre, due to which car may slide during breaking.


As seen in the image below:



The new tyre has treads, which helps maintain the friction. In a worn-out tyre, these treads are no longer present. Also, these tyres might burst due to any sharp objects. These may lead to severe accidents.


Hence, worn out tyres should be discarded.
