What are the various activities which are classified into three main sectors? Name each sector with suitable examples.

The various economic activities can be classified into three main sectors namely- primary, secondary and tertiary.

• Primary sector includes agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, fishing, poultry farming, mining etc. This sector provides raw material to the secondary sector and it is also known as the agriculture sector as agriculture is the main activity in this sector.

• Secondary sector is also known as the manufacturing sector. This sector includes manufacturing units and industries. These industries take raw material from the primary sector and process them into finished goods.

• Tertiary sector includes trade, transport, communication, banking, education, health, tourism, services, insurance etc. This sector provides goods and services. Therefore it is also known as the service sector.
