Describe the current government strategy for poverty alleviation.

Poverty level can be reduced through anti-poverty programs and growth of the economy. The government has started many programs to alleviate poverty. Some of anti-poverty programs are Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana (PMRY), Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP), Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana (PMGY), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), National Food for Work Programme (NFWP) and National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).


By boosting the economy, the government can invest more in human resource of the country which will provide better opportunities for work and ultimately will reduce the poverty level of India. Besides formulating the schemes, the government now have an emphasis on the proper implementation of these schemes.
