How can one grow more than one crop on the same piece of land? Explain.

Multiple cropping is a mode of farming in which farmers grow more than one crop on the same piece of land in a year. It is the most common way of increasing production and income. This can be done by following ways:

• By using modern irrigation system like electric tube wells. Earlier people used to draw water from well mechanically and use that water for irrigation. It is a very time-consuming technique and not sufficient to irrigate large fields. Electric tube wells use electricity to draw water and irrigate the large fields easily.

• By using modern farming methods like chemical fertilizers, pesticides, HYV seeds for producing a large production of crops.
