What are the features of free and fair elections?

Election is said to be fair when:

1. The candidates get a fair chance to compete in the election.

2. The political leaders do not misuse their power and manipulate the public.

3. The campaigns and the polling are processed within the prescribed rules.

4. There is healthy political competition, and there is no violence.

5. Every eligible voter must be allowed to cast votes irrespective of their gender.
