Why do we need elections?

Election is a process through which people choose their representative by casting their vote. Elections happen every five years. We need elections because –

• People could choose the representative who will decide who can make laws for them.

• They can choose who will rule the government and take important decisions.

• People could also elect the party whose policies will help the ruling government and in lawmaking.

• If people became unhappy with the existing government, elections allow them to choose another representative.
