People began to realise the potential of science and technology and also understood the forces of nature.


a. With the passage of time, they were able to create culturally acceptable and useful technological inventions which benefitted mankind.


b. This took them from the state of being dependent on nature to be truly free.


c. This is what people referred to as ‘possibilism’, wherein people aptly harnessed the available resources and reduced their dependency ion nature.


Hence, technology loosens the shackles of the environment on human beings.
