Why is power sharing desirable?

There are two reasons which prove that power-sharing is desirable –

• Prudential – The power-sharing was desirable because it will not lead to conflict between the social groups and maintain political stability. As giving preference to the majority will make the minority feel alienated, resulting in conflicts. Thus, Power sharing will result in better outcomes.

• Moral - Power sharing is a part of democracy as it allows people to question those who are making laws for them and to know how they are being governed. Citizens participate in this through their Right to elect their representatives. This moral reason makes power sharing as the valuable one.
