If tan A = 5/12, find the value of (sin A + cos A) sec A. [CBSE 2008]

Given: tan A = 5/12

Consider (sin A + cos A) sec A = (sin A + cos A)(1/cos A)


= (sin A/cos A) + (cos A/cos A)


= tan A + 1


= (5/12) + 1


= 17/12
