Give the role of genes in evolution.

Evolution is a result of a change in the genetic material from generation to generation. These changes can occur in many ways, one of which can be a mutation.

Mutations are the random changes in the genetic codes of an organism. No genes mean no mutations and no mutations means no evolution. Hence, genes are very important in the process of evolution.
