When did Anne's foolish longings go away?

Before the birth of Marian, her mother Annie had dreamed of a golden girl with golden voice and dark eyes that might move with confidence in the world. These longings were foolish because no one can order one for a pattern like that. Freda asked Anne if Marian could communicate with her fingers and then leaving the orange for Marian, she went home. Turning back, Anne saw Marian. She had been listening. Marian was sad and dejected. It seemed that she was asking her mother, “you like a girl like that, eh?” Anne felt guilty for a while and hugged Marian and realised how much her love meant for Marian whereas for a self-equipped child like Freda it wouldn’t be of the same value ever. That’s when Anne’s foolish longings went away.
