Similarities:

1. Both the struggles were revolts against a hostile foreign power, that seek to limit the freedom of the citizens and force authoritarian rules over the populace.

2. In both cases, economic exploitation were the boiling points for the revolt.

3. Both the struggles were guided by the same principles that all men are created equal and that all men should have the liberty to speak their minds.
