Define: POCSO

POCSO or Prevention Of Child from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, was enacted to provide safer environment to children for complete physical and mental growth. The Act has several features like:

1. One cannot alter the statement given by the child, and it must be recorded verbatim

2. The child cannot be called to the police station repeatedly for testimony

3. The fines imposed under POCSO must be reasoned to meet the hospital and other medical expenses of the harassed child.
