Q13 of 96 Page 6

If x2+x+1 is a factor of the polynomial 3x2+8x2+8x+3+5k, then the value of k is

Let, p (x) = 3x3 + 8 (x)2 + 8x + 3 + 5k

g (x) = x2 + x + 1

Given g (x) is a factor of p (x) so remainder will be 0

Remainder= -2 + 5k

Therefore, -2 + 5k = 0

k = 2/5
