The features of Bokaro Steel Plant are as follows:

1. The Bokaro Steel Plant was established out of collaboration of Bokaro with the Russians and set up in 1964.


2. The principle of transportation cost minimization is followed by creating a combination of Bokaro-Rourkela.


3. Iron ore reaches the plant from Rourkela and in its return journey the wagons are loaded with coal.


4. The Damodar Valley Corporation supplies water and hydel power to the steel plant.
