Name two groups of organisms which constitute ‘flocs’. Write their influence on the level of BOD during biological treatment of sewage

The two group organisms which constitute flocs are Bacteria and Fungi.


These material masses along with fungal filaments called flocs, consume major part organic matter present in the effluent, thereby reducing the BOD of the waste , during biological or secondary treatment of sewage.
