Q19 of 30 Page 1

(a) What are the transcriptional products of RNA polymerase III?

(b) Differentiate between ‘Capping’ and ‘Tailing’.

(c) Expand hnRNA.

(a): RNA polymerase III is responsible for transcription of fRNA, 5srRNA and SnRNAs (small nuclear RNAs)

The genes transcribed by RNA polymerase III fall in the category of housekeeping genes whose expression is required in all cell types and most environmental conditions.

(b):

Capping: an unusual nucleotide is added at 5’ end of hnRNA.

Tailing- in this, adenylate residues are added at 3’ end in a template. It is fully processed hnRNA, now called mRNA that is transported out of the nucleus for translation process.

(c): hnRNA- Heterogenous nuclear RNA.

is the precursor mRNA , is an immature single strand of messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA)
