A solid metallic sphere of diameter 16 cm is melted and recasted into smaller solid cones, each of radius 4 cm and height 8 cm. Find the number of cones so formed.

Let the number of cones formed be n

Diameter of a metallic sphere = 16 cm


So,





Now, Radius of cone = 4cm


and height = 8cm




According to question,


n × volume of cone = volume of sphere



⇒n × 4 × 4 × 8 = 4 × 8 × 8 × 8



⇒ n = 16


Hence, the number of cones formed = 16
