Solve for :


By Transposition,


⇒ (x + 3)(2x – 3) = (x + 2)( 3x – 7)


⇒ 2x2 + 6x – 3x – 9 = 3x2 + 6x – 7x -14


⇒ 2x2 + 3x – 9 = 3x2 – x -14


⇒ 3x2 – 2x2 – x – 3x – 14 + 9 = 0


⇒ x2 – 4x – 5 = 0


⇒ x2 – 5x + x – 5 = 0


⇒ x(x – 5) + 1(x – 5) = 0


⇒ (x + 1)(x – 5) = 0


This gives 2 equations,


i. x + 1 = 0


⇒ x = -1


ii. x – 5 = 0


⇒ x = 5


Hence, x = -1 or x = 5
