Describe any five features of democracy.

The main features of democracy are as follows:

a. It improves the quality of decision making. This is because the candidates are selected by voters from all over the country. The candidates who are selected are elected as representatives of a democratic government. They become the voice of the people who have elected them and can easily bring to the notice of the country their problems and aspirations.

b. It enhances the dignity of the individual. Every voter has the right to cast his vote in the election process. A voter is not discriminated against based on his religion, gender, any other parameter.

c. It provides a method to solve the conflicts. Many conflicts arise within the country and even within the states. Democracy provides a platform for every individual to raise his concerns and solve the disputes in a peaceful and justified manner.

d. It promotes equality among citizens. All the citizens are considered equal in front of the eyes of the law. No one is discriminated against on any basis.

e. It provides a room to correct the mistakes. In case of any deflection from the goal of the country, democracy provides room to recognize the mistake and correct it for the future prosperity of the country.
