Q9 of 22 Page 1

Answer any four of the following questions in 30-40 words each.

(a) Which was the first computer game played by Michael? What strange thing happened as he was playing it?

(b) What offer did the conspirators make to Antony after Caesar’s assassination?

(c) How did the mariners react after the death of the albatross?

(d) “We’re going on strike!” Explain the context.

(e) What makes the author refrain from killing the snake?

(a) The first game played by Michel was “Wild West”.

As Michael was playing game, there happened to be a sudden and bombarding appearance of the second sheriff. He looked absolutely different from the other characters and he was fairly of Michael’s age. This second sheriff looked strangely like some computer image but did not move.

(b) After assassination of Caesar, the conspirators changed colour and announced that they had been compelled to slay Caesar for the goodwill and welfare of Rome. But when it comes to Antony, they said that their swords had blunt edges. Antony was offered with the proposal to enter their company where he would be received with ardent favour and good thoughts and that he would possess an equal right in the say of the government and in the discharge of position and honors.

(c) The mariners were enraged with the old sailor and felt that he had done a cruel act by killing the albatross. They condemned him for that and were confident that a curse would soon befall them. They even condemned the ruthless act of the ancient mariner for killing the bird whose arrival had bestowed them with good omen.

(d) The ghost, Helen, tells John Hallock about herself and her companions who were part of “The Writer’s Inspiration Bureau” and who were calling for a strike. This implied that writers like JOHN Hallock would not get ideas for another plot from them. Helen and her companions were exhausted of being called up at odd hours in the night , just to answer to some silly questions of people who joined together at the Ouija board. Thus, the ghosts called for a strike as an action against this torture.

(e) The author was at first petrified by the appearance of the snake. But on second thought he was really glad to have a snake which had come to satisfy its thirst at his water-trough. This made the author change his mind and refrain from killing then snake.
