Q3 of 22 Page 1

You overheard the following conversation between two friends:
Ram : Did you read the latest book of Chetan Bhagat?
Shyam : No, I rarely get time to read.
Ram : I heard that it is going to be made into a movie.
Shyam: Then we will go and watch it together.
This dialogue made you realize that the present day generation is not into the habit of reading. The habit of reading has disappeared from the lives of children today. As a concerned parent, write a letter in about 100-120 words to the editor of a newspaper on how reading plays a significant role in shaping the lives of children. Subject: how reading plays a significant role in shaping the lves of children

Sir,

I, Prerna Pulkit, have hereby written this letter to you to direct your attention to the decreased tendency amongst children to read books. With the onset of internet and the hype in social media, children are being drawn to instant, petty, shallow and baseless knowledge that make them half informed. But with books, one can delve into the deeper and evident realities of social, political and cultural phenomena of a situation.

Books are just a medium of knowledge and knowledge is that strength that creates awareness and brings us to enlightenment. Reading books provides one with immense knowledge while simultaneously serving as a quality pastime. I feel it is the responsibility of parents, mentors and the institutions to inculcate amongst the children the importance of knowledge. They should feel and understand the power of knowledge.

I shall be obliged to you if you kindly publish this in your daily and make the citizens aware of the benefits of reading. Life will surely become more productive and constructive.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely,

Prerna Pulkit
