Solve Question:

A toy is a combination of a cylinder, hemisphere and a cone, each with radius 10 cm as shown in the figure. Height of the conical part is 10 cm and total height is 60 cm. Find the total surface area of the toy.


Surface area of toy = Area of hemisphere + Area of cylinder + area of cone


Area of hemisphere




= 628cm2


Height of cone = 60 - 10 = 40cm


Area of cylinder = 2 π × r × h


= 2× 3.14×10×40


= 2512cm2


Height of cone = 10cm


Radius of base of cone = 10cm




Area of cone = π × r × l


= π × 10 × 14.1


= 443cm2


Total area = 628 + 2512 + 443 = 3583 cm2
