What are pollutants?

Pollutants are substances that when introduced into the environment has an adverse effect on the environment. Both biotic and abiotic factors can act as pollutants. They make the environment unhealthy and poison the air.

They can be natural or man-made. Natural pollutants are destroyed in due time whereas manmade pollutants remain for a very long time.
