Visit the water testing laboratory in your area and collect the information about tests for checking the purity of water.

The following tests are performed to check the purity of water:

1. pH- pH of water is being tested to determine the acidity or alkalinity of water. pH is the measure of the power of hydrogen. The ideal pH for water is 7.

2. Presence of bacteria:

Presence of bacteria can be ascertained by culturing the water sample in appropriate media. Mostly presence of coli form bacteria such as E.coli is tested as these are responsible for alimentary canal disease.

3. Oxygen and other gases concentration:

Test for the presence of oxygen and other elements can be done.
