State the importance of the young fold mountains?

The Himalayas are a type of young fold mountains.

i. They act as a barrier for any attack and protects India as they are very difficult to cross.

ii. They prevent cold currents and control Westerlies and weather conditions.

iii. They are the source of many perennial rivers which floods the northern plains.
