How did the First World War help in the growth of the national movement in India?

The First World War helped in the growth of the national movement in India in the following ways:

• After the First World War people began to understand who they are, about their identity and sense of belonging.

• New symbols, icons, ideas, and songs came up which inspired the people and created the new link between the boundaries of the different communities.

• All the events and the struggle that the people took during the First World War inspired the people to fight with the colonial rule and establish Swaraj.

• Indians were not aware of the Britishers main intention to rule. So when First World War started and Britishers wanted Indians to participate in the war, Indians demanded from the Britishers that in return for the service they will provide during the war, the British would make reforms that will allow Indians to establish their rule. But later Britishers didn’t fulfil their demand and ultimately this led to the growth of the National Movement in India.
